History – Patkôš manor

Historical and other names: Teszer, Tezer, Tesary, Teszér, Dessir, Tesáre, Tesáry, Patkóspuszta

The first written mention of the village of Hontianske Tesáre dates from 1279, when King Ladislav IV. gave this territory to Demeter of the Hunt family for his merits in the fight against King Otakar. At that time, the territory called Teszer belonged to the Teszéri family, after whom the village probably got its name.

The Teszéri family originally had a late Gothic fortified manor here, which stood here already in the 15th century. It was later destroyed, but in the 17th century there was an extensive reconstruction. Until the end of the 18th century, the building served as an Evangelical prayer house.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the building was converted into a roadside inn, where the poet Sándor Petőfi was allegedly a guest.

Currently, only a dilapidated ruin is left of the mansion in private hands and it is not even registered as a monument.
